Wanted: Split Decision Pie Pan

by fh_rachel on SEPTEMBER 30, 2011
Well, now isn't this clever: Next time Johnny wants apple pie and Sally wants cherry, Mom (or Dad!) can make both, thanks to the Split Decision Pie Pan ($17.95 from Spoon Sisters). I guess you just have to make pies that bake at the same temp and for the same time, huh? (Hat tip, swissmiss)

Wanted: Stitchable Dog Charm Kit

by fh_rachel on SEPTEMBER 22, 2011
It's no secret I want a dog. And when I get said dog, she'll have a Stitchable Dog Charm ($15 from AMH Design) on her collar: The kits (in both large and small sizes and various colors) come with the charm, thread, needle, needle threader and hardware to attach the charm to Fido's collar. Plus,... Read more »

Wanted: Japanese Roll Pen Case

by fh_rachel on SEPTEMBER 14, 2011
Raise your hand if you're always digging around the bottom of your bag for a pen. (Hand raised.) That's why I'm smitten with this Saki Traditional Japanese Roll Pen Case ($13, JetPens.com). I use one, and all my pens are neatly tucked away in a pretty fabric roll. No more dumping out the entire contents... Read more »

Wanted: USA Magnetic Map Puzzle

by fh_rachel on SEPTEMBER 13, 2011
There's such a thing as the United States map as seen by New Yorkers. It looks something like this: Sadly, this is a pretty accurate depiction of what our big-city friends think of the United States. Since I'm from one of those “states that has Kansas City” (what's up, Kansas), I might gift this USA... Read more »

western decorating ideas

by fh_heather_r on AUGUST 03, 2011
Howdy ya’ll! I just got back from a week long vacation in Cowboy Country. Anyone heard of Cheyenne, Wyoming? It hosts the “Daddy of ‘em All” Frontier Days Rodeo. Talk about a culture shock for this Midwestern girl. I felt like a fish out of water without a cowboy hat and spurs. But if I learned... back-to-school goodies

by fh_rachael on AUGUST 02, 2011
Everyone told me that it would happen this way. In what seems like a matter of days, almost six years have gone by and my daughter is ready to start elementary school next month. While part of me is sad and somewhat reflective about the head-spinning travel in time, the other part is excited to... Read more »

great flea market finds

by fh_kerri on JULY 29, 2011
I love to go to the flea market. My ideal Saturday afternoon, especially when it's cold and gloomy (which in Milwaukee, are most Saturday's from November to April), is spent pilfering through other people's stuff. It is one of my favorite past-times. Luckily, we have more than our fare share of indoor flea markets here... Read more »

favorite things: lamps

by fh_heather on JULY 21, 2011
Despite my general inclination to buy only what I need for the house, mixed with a healthy dose of being downright cheap, there is one item I tend to overbuy: lamps. I don't know what it is, but it's hard for me to pass up a good lamp. I typically have two or three of... Read more »

mad about marimekko

by fh_rachael on JULY 12, 2011
When it comes to pattern, I'm easy to please. Make it fun, graphic or colorful, and I'm a happy camper. And Marimekko, for me, is the perfect marriage of all three. The Finnish company has been around since the '50s and you may have even run across one of the individually-owned Marimekko showrooms that dot... Read more »

wanted: turf garden accessories

by fh_rachel on JULY 06, 2011
If only I had a house, guys, I'd buy these turf house numbers: And, if I had a dog, I'd let her chill on a turf pet bed, while I lounged on turf pillows: But! I do have to know the time, and I have the perfect place for this turf clock: All these artificial... Read more »
