by fh_rachel on OCTOBER 19, 2011
Spanish artist Alejandro de Antonio makes large-scale portraits of famous musicians, based around their actual vinyl records. You can head to Cargo Collective's site to flip through all de Antonio's work, including vinyl portraits of Jim Morrison, Paul McCartney, Bob Marley, John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Mick Jagger, Notorious BIG, Michael Jackson, Slash, Robert Smith,... cool or crazy: rock pillows

by fh_rachel on AUGUST 05, 2011
What do you think about these felt rocks, made by South African artist Ronel Jordaan? Cool or crazy? The amazingly realistic-looking rock cushions are wool, hand-dyed and hand-felted, ranging in size from little pebbles, to larger boulders. Would you put these around your house? (P.S. Ronel has a bunch more awesome felted projects on her... Read more »

great flea market finds

by fh_kerri on JULY 29, 2011
I love to go to the flea market. My ideal Saturday afternoon, especially when it's cold and gloomy (which in Milwaukee, are most Saturday's from November to April), is spent pilfering through other people's stuff. It is one of my favorite past-times. Luckily, we have more than our fare share of indoor flea markets here... Read more »

cool or crazy: hidden pictures in concrete

by fh_rachel on JULY 25, 2011
Hmm: Is this concrete concept from artists Frederik Molenschot and Susanne Happle cool or crazy? They call it Solid Poetry — whenever the concrete is wet, hidden images appear. I could see it on sidewalks, sure, but how about concrete countertops or floors? What do you think? Could you see something like this in your... Read more »

how to make cake in a mug

by fh_heather_r on JULY 13, 2011
Besides being a broke college student, I am a horrible baker. I once mistook powdered sugar for flour—you can imagine how those cookies turned out. Despite years of baking with my aunt, the principles of precision never seemed to stick. Baking is a science after all—which is why I’m an English major. But one night,... Read more »

cool or crazy: toilet paper origami

by fh_rachel on JUNE 13, 2011
You tell me: Is folding your TP into little origami shapes cool or crazy? If you think it's cool, there's an entire book devoted to it: Personally, I'm going to file this under “there's not enough free time in the world ...” What about you?

cool or crazy: cat bed table

by fh_rachel on MARCH 29, 2011
This table for you — and your cat — was designed by Koichi Futatsumata. Looks kind of cozy, no? I think my cat, Rigby, would love it. She'd be the center of attention — her favorite place to be — and I'd be happy with a pet bed that's actually well designed. What do you... Read more »

cool or crazy: bubble tents

by fh_sara on MARCH 03, 2011
I hate camping. I hate absolutely everything about it. I can't imagine a worse way to spend my free time than to spend it in the wilderness, surrounded by the wild. If you're further interested in the multitude of reasons I abhor camping, I will refer you to my friend Jim Gaffigan. I realize, however,... Read more »

cool or crazy: planter necklace

by fh_rachel on FEBRUARY 08, 2011
I stumbled upon these wearable planters from Atlanta artist Colleen Johnson and was super intrigued: I kind of dig them — especially the smaller one. Kind of a sweet way to show of your green thumb! The vases are made of a nylon polymer, and each necklace is $55. Buy them on Colleen's Etsy site.... Read more »
