7 days, 7 blogs, 7 moodboards challenge: wrap-up

by fh_rachel on AUGUST 24, 2011

Being part of Olioboard’s 7 Days, 7 Blogs, 7 Moodboards Challenge this week was so much fun. I met six wonderful new-to-me bloggers, whose sites have been dutifully Google Reader-ed and followed on Facebook and Twitter. I loved seeing how we all interpreted “Coastal Cottage” in our own ways, and how we put together our moodboards. Who knew there could be so many different ways to do it?

Here’s a wrap-up of all our boards from the week. All the links go back to the blogger’s original post, so you can get more details in case you missed them first time around. Enjoy — and stay tuned for the next moodboard challenge!

MONDAY
Blog: Focal Point
Room: Library/Studio

Coastal Cottage Studio

Coastal Cottage Studio 2Lynda kicked things off with two whole boards! I love her industrial take on cottage decorating. Definitely an original spin, and I dig it. I especially have my eye on those metal-and-wood bookshelves and the trestle sofa table. Swoon.

TUESDAY
Blog: Living With Lindsay
Room: Home Office

Coastal Cottage OfficeLindsay’s board is filled with so many amazing accessories. The rustic branches are an over-arching theme: I really love the branch lamp and the white ceramic branch bowl. I’m also making a mental note to get a Chippendale desk chair.

WEDNESDAY
Blog: Southern Hospitality
Room: Living Room

Coastal Cottage Living RoomI can never seem to make my moodboards look like an actual room, but Rhoda does such a great job making them look so realistic — there’s even a ceiling! The way she added unexpected patterns in a cottage theme is so refreshing. Those wall panels are beautiful.

THURSDAY
Blog: Addicted 2 Decorating
Room: Bedroom

Coastal Cottage BedroomKristi was inspired by that beautiful wallpaper — and I’m a sucker for the palette she pulled from it. I totally have my eye on that room divider, and I love that she used a dresser I have in my own house!

FRIDAY
Blog: What’s Up Whimsy
Room: Dining Room

Coastal Cottage Dining RoomThe floral-print armchairs Shannon picked to go with unexpected green dining room chairs are what drew me into this moodboard. This is a really modern take on coastal cottage and I love it. And what great artwork picks!

MONDAY
Blog: Fresh Home Blog
Room: Patio/Front Porch

Coastal Cottage PorchWell, yada yada yada. You don’t want to hear me ramble on about my moodboard again, do you? Well if I must, all I have to say is a) I want to create this exact look on a wraparound porch by the ocean, ASAP, and b) I really really want that plant stand from Terrain. Really.

TUESDAY
Blog: Olioboard Blog
Room: Kitchen

Coastal Cottage KitchenSheilah is clearly the Olioboard moodboard pro! I love everything about this kitchen. Did she know that all I want in a house is a wraparound porch (refer to my porch moodboard) and a window seat in a kitchen? The accessories are so thoughtfully picked, and the fabric patterns add such interest. Bravo!

So, there you go. What a great week. Thanks again to Olioboard for this amazing opportunity!

What were your favorite parts of this challenge? Any favorite new finds?

Lol. You are too kind Rachel. You can't go wrong with a bright window seat. Thanks for the great write up and thanks so much for participating. It was a pleasure working with you on this. Sheilah
