My roommate Lindsay writes a fabulous blog with her friend Meredith called Cubicle Chic. Last week I spotted this post on how to organize jewelry and thought it was the perfect fit for Fresh Home. With just two thrift-store frames and a few supplies from the hardware store, Meredith came up with fresh and simple DIY ideas ways to display and organize her jewelry.
EARRINGS
We spend too much money and love our jewelry too much to hide them in boxes, Meredith says. To display her baubles, Meredith created an earring frame. First, she found an empty frame at a thrift store, and then stapled a large sheet of window screen, which she bought at the hardware store, to the back. Voila: instant spot to hang earrings … and really, instant wall art, too:
NECKLACES
To hang necklaces, Meredith nailed a thin piece of wood to the back of another thrift-store frame, and then hammered in a row of nails onto that piece of wood, from which to hang her necklaces. A few bulkier necklaces are simply draped over the corner of the frame. And again: instant organization!
Pretty, right?

I have a jewelry armoire with drawers and just love it. I save extra buttons from clothing I buy. I use button holes to pair each set...one button per pair of earrings--I never lose the pair.

I had this idea 25+ years ago and it's good to see it again. You can also tack thin cord or wire accross the frame to hang clip on earrings from. I also use an over the door shoe rack to hang my necklaces, belts or purses from for quick viewing. Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

I am so doing this! What a perfect way to store all the fun, chunky necklaces we're wearing these days. Thanks for the idea!

It's been working out really well to hang my earrings in the slots of one of those milk glass lacey bowls. Then I can put my watches in the bowl part.

The ones with the cutouts on the sides? I like that!

I display mine on a metal wall hanging I picked up at Z Gallerie a few years ago on sale. It's of vines and leaves, and has a few votive holders. I love how it all looks hanging on the piece, you can see a pic of it here: http://killerbdesign.files.wordpress.com/2010/09/img_1907.jpg
