For the ice bowl, fill the 2-1/2-qt. bowl with water. Place the 1-qt. bowl on top so there is about 1 in. of space between the bowls. Fill the smaller bowl with ice cubes. Place freezer tape across both bowls to hold them in place. Freeze overnight.
Fill the 1-qt. bowl with lukewarm water; remove the bowl. Dip the 2 1/2-qt. bowl in water and twist to loosen. Remove the ice bowl and return to the freezer. When ready to use, place the bowl on a platter to catch the water as it melts.
For the snowballs, hold a Styrofoam ball in your hand and push it down on a flat surface. Turn the ball; repeat. Continue to do this until the ball is the shape and size of a snowball.
Coat the ball with glue and immediately roll it in sand. Place on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet until dry. Display in the ice bowl.
