Step 1: Place Pinecone

First place a pretty pinecone on the plate at each setting, then tuck in a computer-printed or hand-written place card.

TIP

You can also employ other holiday trinkets, such as mini ornaments, small bells or even tiny wrapped packages. For an eclectic, contemporary look, consider using a variety of items.

Step 2: Place Under Glass

Place the wine glasses you’ll be using at dinner upside-down over each of the place cards. If desired, tie a ribbon to the stem of each glass.

Step 3: Fold Christmas Cracker Napkins

Christmas crackers are a common sight during the holiday season. There’s no need to buy any when you can make them out of dinner napkins. Simply fold a square napkin in half, then roll up. (If you like, tuck a few pieces of candy inside.) Tie each end of the roll with ribbon.
