Step 1: Transfer the Measurements

Use a compass to transfer the pattern (see diagram below), then cut out the side pieces. Cut the top, hanging strip, peg strip, shelf and hatch to length and width as shown in the cutting list.

Step 2: Drill the Holes

In the peg strip, drill 12mm diameter holes, 15mm deep, for pegs. Drill 10mm diameter counterbore holes, 5mm deep, for screw hole buttons in sides, and 10mm diameter holes, 10mm deep, in the top for the wood plugs.

Step 3: Finish Assembly

Clamp the peg strip, hanging strip and shelf to the sides (see diagram below). Drill pilot holes and screw the pieces together. Attach hinges to the hatch and fix the top to the sides. Glue and clamp the hatch stops to the sides.

After assembly, glue the buttons and plugs in place, lightly sand the entire piece and apply two coats of Danish oil. Once the finish is dry, add two magnetic catches to the hatch stop and re-attach the hatch hinges to the top.
