Step 1: Cut the Pieces
Step 2: Make the Connectors
Step 3: Position the Long Dowels
Step 4: Insert the Cross Pieces
Step 5: Add the String and Tail
Use a handsaw to cut 1/4-in. dowels into four 36-in. lengths and four 16 1/4-in. lengths. Use a sharp utility knife to cut out two 12 x 48-in. rectangles of Tyvek. Mark the Tyvek into four equal sections, then decorate.
Cut 1/4-in. PVC tubing into eight 1 1/2-in lengths, then cut a 1-in.-long slit down the center of each tube. Bend the tubes, then thread both ends of the long struts through the tip and out the slit. Position connectors 6-in. from each end.
Lay the Tyvek strips face down, position the long struts on your layout marks and secure them in place with strapping tape. Tape the free ends of the strips to one another to create an oblong box.
Insert the ends of the cross struts into the open ends of the tube connectors installed on the long struts. Both pairs of "Xs" should be 6 inches in from the ends of the box.
Poke a small hole in the material and tie your string to a point where a long and cross strut intersect. For balance, tie a tail to the opposite end of the same long strut.
