Produced by Todd Moore

Step 1: Build a Five-Sided Box

Build 18" x 18" x 18" five-sided box with plywood and screws. The edges must be very level. No need to miter corners as they will not be seen.

Step 2: Cover Box with Fabric

Cover inside and outside of box in neutral tight weave cotton fabric—linen or something similar that has some texture to it works well since the texture will show through the paint.

Step 3: Paint the Box

Roll on a coat of paint on the fabric inside and outside of box. Let dry, then add another coat. A paintbrush will come in useful in getting the crevices and corners on the inside of the box. Let dry.

TIP

We used Benjamin Moore's Mighty Aphrodite paint on our boxes.

Step 4: Add Nail Heads

Along the edges, adorn with silver nail head trim, placed 1 1/2" to 2" apart.
