Step 1: Assemble the Frame

Position top and base against the sides and use a combination bit to countersink and drill pilot holes, securing with wood glue and 1 1/2" wood screws.

Use corner clamps to hold the sides while the adhesive dries.

Step 2: Make the Drawer

Position the front and back against the sides to countersink and drill pilot holes, securing with adhesive and screws. Position the base on the frame, securing with 1 1/4" panel pins 1/4" from the edge, five each side.

Step 3: Attach the Drawer Runners

Position the runner on the base of the drawer with the wheel at the back, use a bit to drill holes into the base and sides, securing with the supplied screws.

Step 4: Secure the Drawer Face

Clamp the face to the front flush with the base of the drawer and with equal overhang on the sides, drill pilot holes in the corners from inside, securing with screws.

TIP

Make the holes maximum 1 1/4" deep, the length of the screws.

Step 5: Attach the Cabinet Runners

Turn the cabinet upside down to position the drawer flush with the front, position the cabinet runners with the wheels at the front, mark the holes and remove the drawer to drill holes, securing with the supplied screws.

Step 6: Make the Wood Top

Apply adhesive along the joining edges of the meranti wood, position them together on wood offcuts to add two sash clamps, tightening until adhesive squeezes out and leave to dry.

TIP

Use a chisel to scrape away the excess adhesive.

Step 7: Hang the Cabinet

Save on floorspace by mounting the cabinet on the wall using fixing plates with wall anchors.

Secure fixing plates to the back of the cabinet then position it against the wall. Check that it’s straight with a spirit level then mark and drill holes for wall anchors in masonry or for screws into studs.

Apply wood filler over the screws then sand lightly with 180-grit abrasive paper and apply primer.

For the cabinet apply two coats of gloss acrylic and to the wood top apply two coats of varnish stain, leaving to dry then attach a drawer handle.
