Merci Bird

Materials
• Card stock
• Self-stick decorative wall art (available at Target and craft stores)
• Computer, printer, copy paper, carbon tracing paper, and pencil or fine-line black marker
• Scissors

How-To
1. Cut and fold card stock to make card.
2. Cut out desired section of decorative wall art and remove protective backing. Place wall art on front of card. Trim edges of wall art flush with card.
3. Use computer and printer to print "merci" on copy paper. Place lettering where desired on front of card and slip carbon paper between lettering and card. Trace over lettering with pencil to transfer it onto the front of the card. Or, use marker to write "merci" on the front of the card.

Ribbon Flower Card

Materials
• Purchased 3-in. x 5-in. gift tag (available at craft and scrapbooking stores), or a 3-in. x 5-in. piece of card stock in gift-tag shape
• Scrap of wallpaper or solid-color scrapbook paper
• Round-hold punch
• Scraps of 1/2-in.-wide (or narrower) ribbon
• Craft glue
• Vintage earring or antique button
• Scissors

How-To
1. Glue wallpaper or scrapbook page to one side of gift tag. Trim excess flush with gift tag.
2. Use round-hole punch to make hole through the top of the tag.
3. Cut short lengths of ribbons. Fold each ribbon to make a loop, and glue ends together. Do not crease loop of ribbon. Let dry.
4. Starting with the widest and largest ribbon loops, glue loops to front of gift tag, overlapping the loops as needed to form a tight circle. Let dry. In the same way, add another layer of narrower and smaller ribbon loops on top.
5. Glue and earring or button to the center of the loops. Let dry.

3-D Butterfly

Materials
• Card stock
• Two contrasting colors of solid scrapbooking paper (blue and red shown)
• Craft knife
• Ruler
• Cutting mat
• Pencil
• Craft glue

How-To
1. Cut and fold card stock for card.
2. Cut a piece of blue and red scrapbook paper to fit front of card.
3. Draw a butterfly design onto back of red scrapbook paper.
4. Use a craft knife to carefully cut along outline of butterfly, leaving some of the design areas uncut and still attached to the paper. Cut some thicker lines inside the design to allow the blue paper underneath to show through.
5. With edges matching, glue the red scrapbook paper right side up to the blue scrapbook paper, being careful not to glue the butterfly wings down.
6. Glue butterfly to the front of the card. Trim excess flush with card.
7. Carefully roll the wings around a pencil so they lift off the card.

Quilled Bird

Materials
• Card stock
• Smooth round pencil
• Magazine cover
• Ruler with metal edge
• Craft knife and cutting mat
• Craft glue
• Toothpick
• Scissors

How-To
1. Cut and fold card stock to make card.
2. Lightly draw bird design on front of card.
3. Cut magazine cover into 1/4-in.-wide strips.
4. Tightly roll paper strips around smooth round pencil to coil. Slide coils off pencil, leaving coils intact.
5. Shape and trim coiled paper strips to fit sketch on card.
6. Use toothpick to carefully apply small dots of craft glue along one edge of a coiled paper strip and place coil along sketched line. Let dry. Repeat to complete design.

Yogi Tea Box Card

Materials
• Recycled Yogi tea box with design printed on the inside of the box (check for any coupons printed inside)
• Inspirational quote from individual tea bags
• Two 5-in. x 90in. pieces of different scrapbook papers
• Rubber cement
• Thread in colors of choice
• Sewing machine
• Two small buttons
• Scrap of yarn or ribbon
• Craft glue
• Ruler
• Scissors

How-To
1. Carefully open and flatten the tea box. Cut away the small flaps and the remaining side flaps, leaving a 4 1/4-in. x 8 1/4-in. section to be used for the card.
2. Apply a thin layer of rubber cement on the outside of the box and the back of one piece of scrapbook paper for the outside of the box. Let dry before placing paper on the outside of the box for a stronger bond. Trim excess flush with box.
3. Use sewing machine and a straight stitch to sew a couple of long curves down the length of remaining piece of scrapbook paper.
4. Sew inspirational quotes from the tea bags to the scrapbook paper, overlapping previous stitching.
5. Glue the top edge of the scrapbook paper to the top of the inside of the box.
6. Fold the card along the folds of the box.
7. Attach buttons to the outside of the card with craft glue.
8. Tie card shut with yarn or ribbon.

Fabric Butterflies and Flowers

Materials
• Card stock
• No-sew fusible web
• Scrap of printed cotton fabric
• Iron
• Pencil
• Fine-point scissors

How-To
1. Cut and fold card stock to make card.
2. Trace a butterfly or flower design onto paper side of fusible web.
3. Following manufacturer's instructions, fuse design to wrong side of fabric. Let cool.
4. Cut out butterfly or flower design.
5. Remove paper backing and fuse design to front of card. Let cool.
6. Trim excess fabric flush with card.
